Mercedes-Benz C-class coupe 2015

At the Frankfurt Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe is ready to make its first public appearance and the UK release is due in October

What the UK is about to get in October is not just any other coupe, it’s 2015 C-Class Coupe and which will be the second in a four-car line-up of the C-Class. The front end, and leading edges of the doors, this new coupe shares a lot with the saloon. But if you’ll look it from the doors back, you’ll find it closer to S-Class Coupe. Mercedes-Benz C-Class engines are now more efficient, more eco-friendly.

How does it look?

This new coupe is the second generation car and when compared to the first generation, it is 40mm wider and 95mm longer, which means, more headroom, more shoulder room and elbow room in Mercedes’ already comfy seats.

Interior is pretty much the same as of latest C-Class saloon but the front sports seats of this elegant coupe are matched by two individual seats in the back. Thanks to the frameless and longest – among any Mercedes-Benz model – the access to the interior is very easy.

What are the engine choices?

As the new coupe is longer and wider than the previous generation, it gives sufficient room at the front for a range of engines. The entry-level C180 will be powered by a 1.6-litre unit, capable of producing 156bhp. The C200 will be utilising a 2.0-litre unit, churning out 184bhp, the C250 will be generating 211bhp and the C300 will be producing 245bhp.

While in the diesel versions, the C220d will be powered by a 168bhp unit and the C250d is going to get the 201bhp unit. All these new engines have one thing in common, they are all around 27% more frugal than the previous ones. They will be mated with either a six-speed manual gearbox or in automatic, there will be a seven- or nine-speed.

As standard, they will be powering the rear wheels, but adding the 4Matic four-wheel drive system will be a choice offered on some engine options.

What about the technology on-board?

Well, when you talk about the Mercedes-Benz, you know it’s one of the most advanced and secure car manufacturer in the whole globe. So to be a leader, it offers Attention Assist, Adaptive Brake Assist, Collision Prevention Assist and to enable the car to remain in its lane at speeds up to 124mph, the Distronic Plus.
