Audi started new era of motoring and mobility in late 90s, with the instigation of a tiny sports car named TT. It was launched in 1998, with a title of being a proper sports car in the model line-up and new power units in Audi engine line-up.

The Instigation of New R8

After the instigation of the TT sports car, Audi merely took eight year to introduce the most modern vehicle. They finally turned towards Lamborghini Gallardo and used the platform to introduce the R8 as a first ever supercar.

Now it is almost a full decade when the first ever R8 was introduced and yet again, it is reported that the automaker has started working on the supercars. These cars will not share the underpinnings with Lamborghini anymore but Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman.

What is PO455 reported?

There is an Audi outlet in Germany named Autobild which claims that automaker is working on the new version of the sports car and it has a codename of PO455. The new car model name will be the R6 as reported. It is expected that the new model will be named as the R6 in the future and will manage to make its position between the R8 and R6.

What it will look like?

As it is a supercar so definitely it will looks like the R8, and it is highly likely that the R8 will used features and platform from one of its sister brands. However, the engines will be designed and developed in-house.

A coupe or A Roadster?

It is not yet confirmed that what Audi is thinking about the body type but it is also hinted that the R6 Spyder will be used to title the beauty. There will be a four cylinder Audi engine or a six cylinder unit will make its position in the new R6. It is expected that Audi will soon announce its arrival time and it like be somewhere in 2018.
