Ford Mustang is the most loved and adored car in the history of muscle cars and the only car which has had made it to the top of Empire State Building, the icon of New York City

There is absolutely no doubt about Mustang being the most popular American Muscle car ever built. Ever since it’s been produced, it has engaged more audience than any other car ever managed. Undoubtedly it’s the most loved and adored car in the history of muscle cars and it’s the only car which has had made it to the top of Empire State Building, the icon of New York City. It was back in 1965 when the car was stripped down to pieces and then reassembled on top and now on the occasion of Mustang’s 50th birthday, this historical event is about to happen yet again.

According to Ford, they dissected a 2015 Convertible Mustang on the opening press day of New York Auto Show on April 16. These stripped pieces then carted up to the 86 stories on freight elevators and then reassembled on the rooftop. The idea behind this marketing stunt is to let people visiting the building, stare in amazement at this beast and wonder why in the world someone would do such a labour and put the car 1,454 feet above the skyline of Manhattan. As for building’s gigantic spire structure, helicopters can’t land and to reach the top, cranes are not tall enough.

Back then Ford used a 1966 Mustang Convertible, sliced it into four pieces and after six hours with lot of sweat and in 40-mph winds, managed to put it back in one piece. The biggest achievement of that whole thing was the sale of more than one million Mustangs before the car came down the elevators. The hopes are really high that after doing the same stunt with Mustang Convertible 2015, once again the sale would go up; assuming it might not hit that exact figure but maybe near that though.
